In 2015, I graduated with a BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece. Seeking to work in an international environment, I decided to continue my studies in the Netherlands, where I received my MSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Maastricht (2018). During my MSc I performed two internships. The first one at the dept. of Genetics and Cell Biology at the Maastricht University, under the supervision of Prof. B. Smeets and Dr. F. van Tienen, were I worked on the modification of the DMPK gene, causing Myotonic Dystrophy type I. For my final internship I had the opportunity to travel to Boston, USA. There, I visited the lab of Prof.dr. T.W. Yu, at the division of Genetics and Genomics at the Boston Children’s Hospital, and worked on RFX3, a candidate gene in autism spectrum disorder.
In April 2019, I joined the group of Prof.ir.dr. Ronald Roepman as a PhD candidate. My project was focused on the tip of the primary cilium, specifically investigating the dynamic processes regulated by and organized at the ciliary tip in health and disease.

Since June 2023, I am working as a postdoc on the Cilia-MT-Dysregulation project in collaboration with Prof. Anna Akhmanova.
